Problem Child seeks a sixth straight win
The Honda Center, home of the NHL team the Anaheim Ducks, has a capacity of nearly 20,000. The vast majority of fans inside the arena will be there to support Jake, and it’s a sign of the times that many will be more familiar with his fights than they are with his opponent’s remarkable career. Having beaten up Iron Mike Tyson over eight rounds at the AT&T Stadium, Arlington, the 28-year-old proved he has no issues facing boxers and MMA fighters who are long past their sell-by date.
Paul’s professional boxing record currently stands at 11 wins against one defeat, with the sole loss on his card inflicted by Tommy Fury over eight rounds in Saudi Arabia more than three years ago. Since dropping a razor-thin split decision to former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury’s relative, Paul has fought five times and bagged five positive results. He returned to winning ways by beating UFC star Nate Diaz on points after ten rounds. He then sparked both Andre August and Ryan Bourland inside a round. Next came a win over Michael Perry in Tampa, ending things in the sixth. His most recent fight resulted in that famous points decision win over Mike Tyson late last year.

Chavez boasts money-can’t-buy experience
Mexican boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. boasts a boxing record that his opponent and most in the sport could only dream of. The 39-year-old from Culiacan has a stunning 54 wins against six draws and one defeat, 34 knockout wins, and a pair of losses suffered inside the distance. He may be fast-approaching 40, but a 63% knockout average ensures everyone connected to Team Paul will take him seriously.
Chavez Jr made his professional boxing debut way back in 2003, and quickly climbed the ladder. He kept busy in the early part of his career with fights in his home country and the United States, racing through the rankings and collecting several respected titles along the way. The biggest award won by Julio was the WBC world middleweight title, held between 2011 and 2012. There’s just one problem with Chavez Jr – and there usually is with Paul’s opponents – he has fought just once since 2021, completing six rounds. Is he over the hill, or does he have one big fight left in the tank?

There are many ways to bet on boxing, but I am a fan of the method of victory market. With this approach, you must predict the winner and how he’ll achieve the result, on points or by knockout. Landing the method of victory is more challenging than simply predicting the winner, but the odds are much more attractive.
Paul on points @ 1.8
Paul by KO/TKO @ 2.62
Chavez Jr on points @ 12
Chavez Jr by KO/TKO @ 10
In most cases, the more you research a contest, the greater your chance of scoring the method of victory. The form of both men will often lead you to a smart bet and profit.
Paul vs Chavez Jr prediction
Which fighter will secure a win before a global audience in the millions? Do you go with Paul’s speed, momentum, and youth, or would you rather side with a warrior who has been over course and distance many times before, boxing an astonishing 344 pro rounds?
I’m happy to side with the value and back Chavez Jr. to win on points. If he has any of his famous skill, speed, and accuracy left, his experience will ensure he has too much for Paul, who remains a raw novice in the fight game. I believe Chavez’s best chance of winning is on points, giving his opponent a boxing lesson, so I was delighted to see big odds available.
