It’s matchday two from the new English Premier League season, and there’s plenty to keep bettors and armchair fans entertained over the weekend. The action begins on Friday evening with a fascinating London derby as West Ham United host Chelsea from 20:00 BST. Will the Irons or Blues gift their fans the early-season bragging rights?
The majority of this week’s play is on Saturday with a five-match programme. The curtain goes up with an early afternoon kick-off at the Etihad Stadium, where current league leaders Manchester City host a new-look and energised Tottenham Hotspur in a clash you can follow live on television. Other games of note on EPL matchday two are Brentford vs Aston Villa, Arsenal vs Leeds United, Fulham vs Man Utd on Sunday and Newcastle vs Liverpool on Monday. Matchday two accumulator
If you’d prefer to focus your bets on the short-term, we have a Premier League accumulator that’ll spark your weekend to life. Having trawled the fixtures, studied the stats, and picked out the most generous odds available at Gamblr, I’ve returned with an EPL matchday two treble. You can follow my picks exactly, backing all three teams to win at a solid price or add Gamblr’s Premier League picks to yours, building a stacked acca and targeting a big win.
The odds displayed in this article come from the Gamblr site and are correct at the time of writing. Please remember football and sports betting odds are subject to change, and the offer you see when placing your treble may differ from what was available when writing the article. Visit the Gamblr site or app now for all the latest odds, markets, and promotions.
Remember, Gamblr runs the Early Payout reward on Premier League bets. That means if your pick takes a two-goal lead, we’ll settle that selection as a winner. What’s more, it doesn’t matter if a team races into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 10 minutes or goes 4-2 ahead on the hour. If you bet on a club to win and they have a two-goal cushion, you’ll have the profits in your bank before the full-time whistle.
Man City beat Tottenham
We open the show with a bet on the first of a five-match programme on Saturday. Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspur from 12:30, with the locals red-hot betting favourites to win. I’m confident Pep Guardiola’s side will live up to expectations by beating Spurs, moving onto six points from two games, and securing us a winning start.
Manchester City started the season with question marks hanging over the club in the face of growing off-field issues. But they answered their critics in style when easing to a stunning 4-0 win at Molineux on matchday one. The stars of City made a mockery of what had been billed as a potential banana skin. Haaland netted a brace, Reijnders gave fans a taste of what’s to come from him this year, and Cherki wrapped things up near the end.
The head-to-head stats show Manchester City battled to a 1-0 win when last playing Spurs, claiming three points thanks to a goal from Haaland on 12 minutes. The striker will be key to City’s success again on Saturday, and the home win gets things moving.
Aston Villa beat Brentford
The second pick from our EPL treble takes Aston Villa to bounce back from an opening day draw with a useful win over Brentford on the road. The Villans played out a goalless draw with Newcastle in Birmingham last weekend, a result that caught many by surprise. I expected Villa to win that game, but they had Konsa sent off in the second half, ruining any chances of bagging three points at the earliest opportunity.
While Villa were being held by Newcastle, Brentford lost 3-1 to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. The Bees are better at home than on their travels, but I expect the class of Unai Emery’s men to shine through. Villa won 1-0 here last term, and beat Saturday’s opponents home and away, taking six points from a possible six.
They must improve from last weekend, but if Villa are anywhere near their best, they have a great chance of winning this match and nudging our bet in the right direction.
Arsenal beat Leeds
The third and final pick in our English Premier League matchday two treble is for last season’s runners-up in the top flight to defeat the winners of the Championship at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal play Leeds United from 17:30 on Saturday, and I’m confident the locals will get the job done in convincing fashion.
Both teams enjoyed opening day wins, with the Gunners beating Man Utd 1-0 at Old Trafford while Leeds edged Everton by the same scoreline. Arsenal’s game was on Sunday afternoon, while Leeds played the Toffees on Monday evening. Arsenal won 1-0 when last at Elland Road and 4-1 when hosting Leeds.
Follow the stats and back Arsenal to continue their perfect start with a home win over an opponent that’s sure to be feeling the effects of Monday’s battle with Everton.
