Current champions
Bettors use several tried and trusted methods to make a profit when gambling on major tennis events, including the US Open. Some like to place their trust in the stats and trends, others keep it simple and stick with their favourite players, while many opt for a player with big odds attached and hope for a result.
A strong approach used by many profitable gamblers is to side with the defending champions. Having won the trophy 12 months ago, can the men’s and ladies’ champions do it again? They know the challenges of the courts and tournaments and understand how to pace themselves in the early rounds. But which names arrive in New York as the champs?
Italy’s Jannik Sinner was victorious here last year when beating homegrown talent Taylor Fritz in three sets, with the scoreboard at the end of play reading 6-3, 6-4, 7-5. Sinner is back to defend his hard-earned prize and has already proven a popular choice in the betting. Will the 24-year-old score a fifth Grand Slam and second US Open?
You can bet on Jannik Sinner boosted in the US Open outright market @ 2.25 with Gamblr.
In the women’s game, Aryna Sabalenka defeated America’s Jessica Pegula in straight sets, settling matters with a 7-5, 7-5 result. Will she retain the prize this year?

Play for a price at Flushing Meadows
Jannik Sinner ranks as a worthy favourite and, if anywhere near his best, the Italian will surely win a second US Open Grand Slam title in as many years. The market leader arrives in great form, but there is a slight concern due to recent illness. We’re confident he wouldn’t have come to Flushinh Meadows unless he was confident he could win. But even the boosted odds of 2.25 encourage us to look beyond pole position.
With the aim of boosting your balance and giving you something to watch this week and next, I’m taking a chance on an underdog with eye-catching odds. Alexander Zverev is available at 21.0, and I believe his chances are much better than the quote suggests. The 28-year-old from Hamburg in Germany is yet to win a Grand Slam, but has been knocking on the door in recent times. He reached the final here in 2020, was in the last two at the French Open in 2024 and the Australian Open this term.
Zverev has a decent record here and was shaping well in Cincinnati. He, too, was forced to rest due to sickness, and our chances rely on him being 100%. Alexander has a solid record against Sinner, and you can back him to make the final at a handsome price or be ready to cash out should he do as expected and reach the later stages. Will Zverev win the 2025 US Open? That remains to be seen, but there’s no doubting his quality and value.
Gauff the value play
American tennis fans would love to see young Coco Gauff go one better than last year’s two runners-up from the States.
The 21-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, has won two Grand Slams already, capturing this title in 2023 and this year’s French Open, showing she has the character needed to win at the big events. Like the pick above, you can back Gauff each way or bet with the aim of cashing out for a profit.
